HUDSON RIVER ROOF GARDEN
Perched above the West Harlem Piers overlooking the Hudson River, this roof garden provides building residents with a common outdoor space for gardening and relaxation.
Construction of a steel platform elevated the deck above building parapets to allow for treetop Riverside Park views. Hidden drip irrigation was integrated using the raised deck to keep the visual continuity as well as to most efficiently maintain plant health. The design incorporates small planters for individual gardens, open deck areas and a shade trellis. Building residents benefit from common space for socializing and relaxation; neighbors tend to small plots in their own elevated urban garden.
